About Bill and Rita

Along with Bill & Rita Ament’s Summer Creative Arts Day Camps, they also own and operate Dance Happy, now in its 26th year. They teach dance to ages 2 on up, teens, adults and adult seniors. New to their business is Zumba for Teens & Adults and Zumbatomic for Children. They also teach a variety of Ballroom classes in Swing, Salsa, Fox Trot, Tap and Clogging at their dance studio and the elementary, middle and high schools. The Dance Happy program culminates with their annual production at the San Juan Community Theatre, featuring over 70 talented, island performers.

Bill holds a B.A. in English/Minor in Art and has pursued graduate work in Dance and Education. He is an accomplished performer/entertainer and a master dance teacher. He is a Creative Arts Specialist, a Play Therapist for both school-aged children & the elderly, and a certified Laughter Leader. He is also a wonderful dad. He has been a member of a children's theater company, a recipient of the National Endowment of the Arts, and an artist-in-residence many times over, bringing education through the arts to schools up and down the West coast. He is a Creative Arts Specialist, a Play Therapist for both school-aged children and the elderly, a certified Laughter Leader, and a certified Zumba and Zumbatomic teacher as well.

Rita has a degree in Special Education and has been an elementary school teacher and principal. She was also a fashion coordinator/moderator for a well-known East coast clothing designer. As a native of Cuba for her first 11 years, Rita is fully bilingual in English and Spanish and is an interpreter and translator working extensively in the community, including Friday Harbor Elementary School, Middle School and High School. She is also the administrator for their Zumba business as well.

Together they are an inspiring and dynamic duo. They both have a treasure of knowledge, wisdom and love for children and adults of all ages. They are a lot of fun to be with, have a great sense of humor and are nurturing, uplifting, loving and compassionate. They are very well known for the huge contribution they make in their community.
